A wargame is, at bottom, an instrument for producing knowledge β about an adversary, a plan, a possible future, or a decision-maker's own judgment. Adding AI to that process isn't a technical upgrade. It changes what a wargame can credibly claim to tell us, and how far we should trust what comes out of it.
In this WWN talk, Baptiste Alloui-Cros will explore how those stakes shift as AI moves between roles β adjudicating outcomes, designing scenarios, playing as opponent or teammate β and as the purpose of the game changes, from training and exploration to analysis. Each combination raises its own problems of validity.
